    About Us

    Who we are…

    Morton Brody Law’s principal solicitor is Ashleigh Morton.

    Ashleigh has lived all her life in Falkirk. She attended Falkirk High School. Ashleigh graduated from Stirling University in 2011 after 7 years completing a BA(HONS) in business law and spanish and the accelerated LLB with Merit. She completed the Diploma in Legal Practice in 2012.

     

    After completing her Diploma, Ashleigh undertook her traineeship at a prominent firm of solicitors in Falkirk where she made regular appearances at Falkirk & Alloa Sheriff Courts. Thereafter, she spent over 5½ years with two well established firms in Dunfermline.

    Ashleigh deals with all aspects of child and family law including divorce, separation, contact, residence, cohabitee claims, children’s hearing cases along with debt recovery, settlement agreements and power of attorneys.

     

    Ashleigh has also been appointed a child welfare reporter in both Dunfermline and Falkirk Sheriff Courts. Ashleigh is a member of the Scottish Family Law Association.

     

    Ashleigh has been accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a Family Law Mediator.

    Do you offer a free meeting?

    We offer the first 15 minutes of your initial meeting free.

    Will I be eligible for legal aid?

    The firm offers legal aid to those who are eligible. We can discuss your financial circumstances at your initial appointment and an assessment can be completed on your behalf.

    Do you offer a fixed fee for work?

    Yes, we can offer a fixed fee for certain work such as certain minutes of Agreement and certain Divorce actions. Please telephone 01324 374374 to discuss in more detail.

    What is your hourly rate if I am not eligible for Legal Aid?

    My hourly rate is £200 per hour plus VAT. We also offer the first 15 minutes of your advice completely free of charge at your initial appointment.

    I work until 5pm Monday - Friday. Do you offer any late-night appointments?

    Evening appointments can be arranged on request.

    Are there any alternatives to Court in family cases?

    Yes, Ashleigh is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a Family Law Mediator. Mediation is a voluntary process where both parties need to be willing to participate. You jointly instruct one Family Law mediator and will attend sessions with the mediator together, to discuss the issues which need to be resolved and to work towards a solution which works for your family.     I think I want to try mediation. How much does it cost?

    If you are eligible you can apply for legal aid funding to attend mediation through your solicitor or alternatively you can discuss costs by telephoning 01324 374374 and speaking to our accredited Family Law Mediator.

    Do you only carry out mediation sessions face to face or can the sessions be virtual?

    Yes, our Family Law Mediator can undertake the sessions virtually or face to face.
